WE BELIEVE THAT EVERY CHILD IS A UNIQUE AND PRECIOUS GIFT FROM GOD
OUR MISSION
Our ministry is committed to meeting the needs of children one by one as we care for, protect, and nurture the destitute and abandoned in India. Our focus is to create worth and wholeness through a loving environment that radiates God’s love. Our goal is to equip children to reach their God-given potential by nourishing their physical, mental, and emotional needs and offering hope for their future.
Mercy International opened its first Care Center in the state of Tamil Nadu, India in March 2020. As a result of the COVID-19 pandemic has created a Relief Outreach, feeding hundreds of families in remote villages. Due to the great need, we have felt the Lord leading us to provide a much-needed children's home in this area as well.
OUR HISTORY
India, despite being one-third the size of the United States, is the second most populated country in the world with over a billion people. Poverty affects two-thirds of its population, and many live on less than $2 a day, making it, along with Haiti, one of the world's poorest nations in the world. Lack of clean water, inadequate sanitation, and limited electricity contribute to diseases like cholera, typhus, and dysentery, particularly among children. More than 47% of young children suffer from malnutrition, leading to various health issues.
India's orphaned children often come from marginalized backgrounds, facing extreme poverty and little support. Many are forced into child labor, despite legal restrictions. Shockingly, over 60 million children aged 5 to 14 work in hazardous conditions, with more than 70% employed as domestic servants, facing physical abuse and even forced prostitution.
Due to cultural biases, female infanticide is another very real and serious issue in India. With thousands of baby girls losing their lives simply because of their gender.
